Data Ticker
Data is being generated worldwide at an unprecedented and increasing rate. A recent article in Science estimates that 1,250 billion Gigabytes (1,250 Exabytes) of data were generated in 2010, with an annual rate of growth of 58%. Extrapolating from these values, the PNNL Data Ticker dynamically shows the estimated amount of data generated worldwide since the start of the 2011 annual Supercomputing conference in Seattle, (8:00 a.m., November 12, 2011).
