PNNL becomes part of Portland's melting pot for Supercomputing conference
SC09—Computing for a Changing World
In Portland, where high-tech meets Birkenstocks and bumper stickers, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory will showcase its computing power. Supercomputing 2009 (SC09) is the premier international conference for the who's who in computing science and technology.
It's PNNL's 21st year participating in the conference and this year promises to be another good show. Demonstrations in the Laboratory's booth cover relevant topics for today, including energy and environmental health. In addition, researchers will demonstrate high-performance computing (HPC) capabilities and highlight PNNL's new supercomputer, Chinook.
SC09, held November 14-20, is the Mecca of HPC, networking, storage and analysis. Nearly 10,000 attendees—scientists, engineers, researchers, educators, programmers, system administrators and managers—from around the world will converge in Portland to learn about the field's latest innovations.
This year, the conference is focused on bio-computing, sustainability and 3D Internet.
Join us in Portland and check back here for updates. We'll bring the high-tech, you bring your Birkenstocks.
